How do I become a contributing photographer to Catapult?
Catapult is always on the lookout for creative, accomplished, and professional stock and assignment photographers. Contact us at: info@catapultstock.com and direct us to an online portfolio for us to review. After reviewing your work, we will contact you if you are accepted for membership.
If denied membership can I reapply in the future?
Yes, please contact us again when you feel that your image collection is up to our standards. Remember, Catapult holds extremely high standards for our photographers and we require that all images be compelling, unique, and creative.
How many images do I have to submit if accepted?
We would like a minimum of 200 images in your collection upon signing with us.
When do I need a model release?
Anytime that you have an image that is to be sold as “Royalty Free”.
What are the specs required for images to be uploaded?
- Images must be RGB JPG (size 12) format only
- You must own the full copyright to any image you upload. This means you must be the photographer or artist that created the image.
- All trademarks must be removed. This includes logos, brands and entities with copyright or trademarked elements. This many also extend to trademarked products such as cast sculptures, toys, architecture and other elements of design. Copyright is checked with each file.
- File size: at least 300 dpi with a length of 3000 pixels on the long side.
- Entering keywords and descriptions: be as descriptive as possible. Include at least 15 keywords and use a title other than ‘boy’ or ‘sky’. Supplying more keywords means your image will match more searches. Images with more keywords get downloaded more often.
- Model releases: Royalty free images with clearly visible people require a model release form for legal reasons. A legal guardian or parent must sign for all children under the age of 18 years. You will need to submit a photocopy of every release.
- Legal notice: uploading images/artwork that belongs to somebody else (copyright or otherwise) will result in a suspended membership and in some cases may have legal ramifications.
- Your account profile must have your full legal name and mailing address entered before completing an application. Anyone uploading with a fake name will be banned immediately.
What percentage do photographers get from image sales?
Our photographers receive sixty (60%) from their image sales.
What percentage do photographers receive from assignments?
Our photographers receive seventy (70%) from assignments generated through Catapult.
Does Catapult require exclusive representation of our photographer’s images?
Yes, this is because it is to hard for us to manage image license agreements if our photographers allow their images to be licensed through other agents.
If I have an image sell when do I get paid?
Catapult has a quarterly payment schedule. New members will be required to sign a 1090 form in order to get paid.
How much does it cost to be represented by Catapult?
- Professional: $300 Annual / $25 Monthly Storage Fee = $600 per year
Professional members will have a bio and portfolio page with an active link to their
personal website. Pro members will also be featured on the main page of the
Catapult website, as well as on the Catapult blog. Pro members will be
represented by Catapult and will be actively marketed to close to 10,000
Creatives per month. All images are redundantly backed up and are stored
archivally. Pro members will receive 60% of all image sales and 70% of all
assignment rates. These are the highest rates in the industry.
- Standard: Based on number of stock images in Catapult archive
Standard members will be able to submit their stock image collection to the
Catapult archive and will receive 60% of all image sales. Standard members
may be featured on the Catapult featured work section and on the Catapult blog. All images are redundantly backed up and are stored archivally.
- 100-500 images- $25 per month
- 501- 1000 images- $35 per month
- 1001-1500 images- $55 per month
- 1500+ images- $125 per month
